I'd like to see a better Hartnell out there. I think he steps up it only helps that 1st line.

He's playing the perimeter and trying to be a sniper/playmaker instead of the bull-dozing power forward that he is.

Steve Mason played a world class game tonight. He was the difference.

A goalie stealing a game like that in the playoffs is HUGE. Maybe the offense steals a game or 2 for him now

With Nicklas Grossmann lost to a lower-body injury early in the second period (he couldn't put weight on his right leg after going awkwardly into the boards and getting up very slowly)

Is that the same leg he was wearing that inflatable boot on?

They were very tentative with the puck and the body after the Rangers goal, but snapped out of it in the 3rd.

Mason was incredible. Now it's a best of 3. This is gonna be fun.

It's not something we've been accustomed to as Flyer fans...feels good but a bit weird, like we should have lost but won. It's great to have a guy that can have your back like that, but for, how long...

that was about as bad a first period as they could have played. if not for mason, the game and their season is likely over. to their credit, they really regrouped and started to eliminate the rangers quick outs and diagonal neutral zone feeds with much better forechecking and zone clearing of their own.

just wanted to mention the winning goal doesn't happen without akeson kicking the puck to the near dman at the point before it got moved to schenn. he was terrific tonight and has been a factor in every game.

they have to stop going to the early deficit well...especially at msg.

Apart from the Grossmann injury, there were a few scary moments involving key players on both teams. On the Flyers' side, Giroux went down hard and got up gingerly after taking a big hit -- with heavy contact on his leg or thigh -- by the diminutive Mats Zuccarello. On the New York side, Ryan McDonagh was favoring his left shoulder at one point after contact with Rinaldo. Both players stayed in the game.

of course flyers luck is grossmann is out, mcdonut is caught in the camera hole and ends up being fine


who are the people on the rangers who are taking "maintenance" days? seems like they block hundreds of shots with no injuries

I think Flyers fans aren't used to those goalie/defensive-limited games that the Rangers, Devils and Ducks pull out on the regs.

The NY Rangers block so many and skate away unscathed.

From memory the Flyers shot blocking woes in the playoffs:

Coburn takes a slapper to the beak.
Timonen out with a clot in his leg from a shot block.
Laperierre eats puck.
Thoreson ruptures a testicle and is laying on the ice writhing in pain as the Flyers lose in overtime.

I wonder what the Rangers shot blocking playoff injuries are. I'm guessing not nearly as bad.
